AUTO SHOW ROARS

San Jose - The latest in vehicle technology is on display at the McEnery Convention Center in Downtown San Jose. While the bad economy is causing many trade shows to scale back or cancel, that isn't the case with the Silicon Valley International Auto Show.

Bob Ricks is the Chairman of the Silicon Valley Auto Dealers Association and he says the bad economy makes the show more important than ever. Instead of reading about the bad news about the auto manufacturers, consumers are able to come see the latest technology and get excited about the future of the car industry.

The event is stepping up efforts with 300 vehicles on display, including some recent concept cars that majufacturers are showing off to the public. Steven Smith is President of the Silicon Valley Auto Dealers Association and he says this show is important because of the quality of customers who will com through the doors over the next few days.

As many people are concerned about the environment and want to see more in the way of green technology in all aspects of daily living, alternative energy vehicles are in the spotlight, including an all-electric vehicle from Dodge with a 250 mile range, along with the 2010 Ford Mustang and a futuristic Chrysler. There will also be the 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Chevy Camaro.

Even though there are no sales that take place at the show, people interested in hybrids, fleet vehicles and million dollar luxury cars will be able to see the latest models in one location. The show opens at 10am every day through Sunday.
